About Likestone and the maker Housengama:

Housengama was established in 1947 in Toki City, well known for producing Mino ware ceramics. In Gifu Prefecture, ‘Minoyaki’ is the word for the various ceramics and pottery produced in the eastern agriculture region. With a history of ceramic goods spanning a millennium, they have supported Japanese ceramics until the present day, with a domestic share of over 60%.

To ensure sustainability, Housengama has focused on the local clay and natural resources used in their products in recent years. By mixing different types of clay, they have developed techniques that highlight its unique texture and the naturally occurring patterns of dry riverbed stone and marble.

Likestone is the new range of ceramics brand that reflects the land’s particulars and characteristics. By mixing clay with crushed half-finished ceramics , then with different colours of clay added,  Likestone products convey a unique matte finish and texture.

The textures a highly organic natural feel and will make you feel at peace just by embracing it in hand and looking at it.
