Isekatagami Greeting Cards by Studio Gala

 

Ise-katagami was used to dye kimono during the Edo period. It is a naturally laminated paper that is pasted together with concerntrated persimmon jiuce. It features carved pattern created by high quality craftmanship. Ise-katagami had significant impact on 'edo komon' graphics and recent history of Japanese textile craft.

 

The card series are hand printed using original katagami patterns. Studio Gala have varied the original style through nuances in printing.
