Mogake Style Kyusu by Sekiryu Kiln, Tokoname.
The Mogake decorative technique, developed in the 19th century involves wrapping the clay with Amamo seaweed prior to reduction firing in the kiln. The reaction between the minerals of the seaweed and the clay results in a unique oxidized and burned pattern on the surface.
A ceramic strainer has also been built and fired in by the artist for smooth brewing and cleaning.
